“Give and it shall be given unto you. A good measure pressed down, shaken together and running over, will be poured into your lap.” Luke 6:38
We are able to share daily the love of Christ and truth about abortion to clients who visit our centers. Serving these clients blesses everyone at Rachel House immensely, especially those who volunteer in the center. A current volunteer recently shared this sweet story about how a friend is finding purpose serving Rachel House, outside the center.
“When I first became friends with Winona, a widow, she had just lost a loved one to cancer and admitted to me that she felt that she no longer had a purpose in life. When I learned that she was an excellent seamstress, I suggested that she make bibs for Rachel House. She not only began making bibs, but also blankets and burp cloths to match. Sometimes Winona can’t sleep at night, so now when that happens, she sews for the babies at Rachel House. It gives her life purpose and brings her joy. Not long after that Mary Warner, Lee’s Summit center manager, asked if I thought Winona might be willing to make a few robes for clients who are in our Illuminate program. We went shopping, picked out a pattern and some fabric, and my good friend found a new purpose! In 2013, she donated 100 robes to Rachel House and her goal for 2014 is to make at least 100 more. I tell her often what a blessing she is to me and to Rachel House clients, but she humbly responds that she is the one receiving the blessing.”
